Abstract: This study examines the impact of adult education on disaster preparedness, highlighting its importance in equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively to disasters. The objectives were to assess the effectiveness of adult education in enhancing disaster preparedness, to identify the key components of disaster education that contribute to readiness, and to evaluate the challenges in delivering disaster education to adults. A survey research design was chosen to collect data from participants in disaster preparedness programs, providing insights into their effectiveness. A sample size of 350 adult learners was selected for this study. The purposive sampling technique was used to target individuals involved in disaster education programs. The case study was conducted in Delta, Nigeria, where disaster education is critical due to frequent natural disasters. Findings revealed that adult education significantly improved disaster preparedness, with participants showing increased knowledge and readiness to respond to emergencies. However, challenges such as limited access to training materials and low awareness of disaster risks were noted. The study recommended expanding disaster education programs and increasing public awareness campaigns.
